What do I do if my WordPress site is down or hacked?
Contact a WordPress support team that can access your server, not just your dashboard.
CoHosta’s technical team handles emergency WordPress issues — site outages, malware
infections, white-screen errors and failed updates — including manual malware removal and
restoration from daily backups. Call (832) 224-3515 or

Describe the problem
Emergencies we handle
| Problem | What it usually looks like | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Site is down | Blank page, 500 error, or the browser can’t connect at all | Identify whether it’s server, DNS, plugin or theme; restore service |
| Site is hacked | Spam pages, redirects to unknown sites, browser or Google warnings | Manual malware removal, then close the entry point |
| White screen of death | Blank white page after an update, no error message | Isolate the failing plugin or theme and roll it back |
| Database connection error | “Error establishing a database connection” | Check credentials, repair the database, restore if needed |
| Failed update | Site breaks after a WordPress, plugin or theme update | Roll back from backup, then re-apply the update safely |
| Locked out of admin | Password reset emails never arrive; login loops | Restore admin access at the server level |
Why call a hosting team instead of a plugin
- Server-level access. Most emergencies — outages, database faults, failed
updates — can’t be fixed from inside the WordPress dashboard. They need the server. - Daily backups already exist. Every CoHosta hosting plan includes daily
backups, so there is usually a clean restore point to fall back to. - Manual malware removal. Our Technical Support Plan (FULL) includes up to
one hour of manual, thorough malware removal if your site is compromised — a human reading
the code, not only an automated scan. - A team that answers. Our support team includes people who previously
worked at GoDaddy and Google.
You don’t have to be a CoHosta customer
We take emergency work for sites hosted elsewhere. If the site turns out to be failing because
of where it’s hosted, we’ll tell you — and a
website transfer is included free with our Technical Support
Plan (FULL) if you decide to move.
Emergency work on a site we don’t host may carry additional cost. Per our standard practice,
any additional cost is assessed after the issue is fixed and the cause is known — you are not
asked to authorise an open-ended amount up front.

Emergency WordPress support FAQs
Can you help if my site isn’t hosted with CoHosta?
Yes. We take emergency work for sites hosted anywhere, as long as we can be given access to
the files and database.
What does emergency support cost?
Our Technical Support Plan (FULL) includes up to one hour of manual malware removal. Beyond
that, additional costs may apply for emergency work — and they are assessed after the issue
is fixed and the cause is known, not quoted blind.
My site was hacked. Will you find how they got in?
Removing the malware is only half the job. We look for the entry point — an outdated plugin,
a weak password, a compromised account — because a site cleaned without closing the hole
usually gets reinfected.
Can you recover my site if there’s no backup?
Often, yes — but it depends on what survived. Every CoHosta hosting plan includes daily
backups, so sites we host almost always have a clean restore point. For sites hosted
elsewhere, we work with whatever backups your host retained.
Do you offer 24/7 support?
Yes. CoHosta provides 24/7 expert support, and our technical team is on call for website
emergencies.
